The Allotment Soup Zine, 2019 an original artwork by Hannah Brackston
Allotment Soup Zine is a beautifully crafted zine made by artist Hannah Brackston during her time as Artist in Residence with Art Gene’s long term project Allotment Soup – the Isle of Walney Community Growing Space. Since its inception in 2015 through to 2019, Hannah worked closely with Art Gene’s directors Maddi Nicholson and Stuart Bastik and contributed significantly to this long-term, community-focused initiative.
The Allotment Soup Zine features sketches, notes, and research gathered over four years by Hannah throughout her time as artist in residence. The work includes 10 zines, each dedicated to a different theme - birds, soil, food, walks, weeds, trees, bread, potatoes, and land. When opened fully, each zine features a poster that celebrates and promotes the importance of our local natural assets. Each copy is one of a limited edition of 100, presented in a hand-made brown paper envelope.
Folded dimensions 21cm x 15cm
Unfolded dimensions 42cm x 30cm
